dc.description.abstract | Under China’s contemporary climate of reforming education, this research tries to explore the necessities and means of introducing a vocationalism approach that integrates academic and vocational education in China’s general secondary schools. Firstly studied is the background of education in China. Subsequently, a discussion is developed regarding the premise of students educated in the academically and vocationally integrated courses are better prepared for their future lives and careers. The aforementioned vocationalism approach is therefore suggested as an alternative path for educational reform, which China’s general secondary schools may consider to incorporate, so that 1) academically disadvantaged students are at least helped with their post-graduate career choices and expected to successfully attain decent jobs; and 2) students with academic advantages are not only prepared for further education, but also for their career pursuits. | en |
