dc.description.abstract | This research looks at four different case studies of filmmaker-audience collaboration using narrative and autoethnographic methods. Each separate narrative outlines the individual filmmaker’s experience and provides a voice for filmmakers in the research. Analyzing the cases together, an understanding of how filmmaking with an audience differs from other types of filmmaking begins to form. I argue that the main differences in this kind of collaborative filmmaking are: (1) the idea of keeping the actual versus imagined audience in mind, (2) knowing how and when to incorporate audience feedback, and (3) the performance of a number of communications and public relations skills that would not necessarily be a part of a regular independent film project. | en_US |
