dc.description.abstract | Nonformal learning contexts provide opportunities for participants to acquire knowledge and skills, and also encounter complementary, alternative, or opposing points of view. Taekwon Do (TKD), is but one example of a rich nonformal learning context. This research explores whether TKD as a nonformal learning context can facilitate a transformative learning experience among adult blackbelt practitioners. Jack Mezirow’s 10 phases of perspective transformation was used as a framework to analyze the narrative training experiences of five (5) adult blackbelt TKD practitioners. Findings indicate that participants experienced deep and varied transformative shifts, with implications that extended beyond the training environment to other life domains. | en_US |
