Committee Reports (Standing and Ad Hoc) 5.1 Senate Executive There was no report. 5.2 Academic Appeals L. Theriault reported there has been an appeal received and that the Academic Appeals Committee will meet to discuss it. 5.3 Academic Policy and Planning S. Brown directed attention to Item 7.2.2 from the last Senate meeting which is a Notice of Motion to add " to act as an appeal committee for prior learning assessment and recognition" to the functions of the Committee on Teaching and Learning. " Moved by P Watts, seconded by B. King to approve the by-law amendment. CARRIED. 5.4 Committee on Teaching and Learning There was no report. 5.5 Graduate Studies There was no report. 5.6 Undergraduate Curriculum There was no report 5.7 Committee on Appointment, Promotion and Tenure or Permanence for Academic Administrators (CAPTPAA) There was no report. 5.8 Committee on Information Technology and Services There was no report. 5.9 Nominations 5.9.1 Senate Committees Election K. Kienapple reported that several individuals have been contacted regarding Committee appointments. He indicated that where the term "vacant" is applied this infers that individuals have been contacted and a response is forthcoming. Moved by K. Kienapple to add J. Tharamangalam's name to the Committee on Research and Publications in place of one vacancy. CARRIED Moved by K. Kienapple, seconded by I. Blum that Senate approve the appointments of the named individuals to the various Standing Committees of Senate. Theriault reported that the Committee continues to receive responses from the students accepting scholarship offers and that there were approximately 100 people confirmed for the reception on Sunday afternoon. 5.14 Writing Initiatives Committee There was no report. 5.15 University Research Ethics Board There was no report. 6. Other Reports 6.1 Board of Governors There was no report. 6.2 Students' Union There was no report. 7. New Business Moved by S. Drain, seconded by W. Doyle to move the meeting in camera. CARRIED 7.1 Spring 2002 Graduation List Moved by L. Theriault, seconded by S. Medjuck, that Senate permit the Registrar to add an individual's name to the Graduation List if the requirements are completed prior to the Convocation Ceremony and, further, to adjust any students' distinction status if so warranted.
